If there's a damp patch on the ceiling under your bathroom, or the wall behind your shower is peeling, the water is getting past the tiles. Painting over it or regrouting rarely fixes it. The answer is finding exactly where the water enters.
Common leak sources in Delhi bathrooms
- Failed floor waterproofing. Water sits under the tiles and travels through the slab into the room below.
- Floor trap and drain joints. The joint between the trap and the slab cracks and leaks with every shower.
- Old GI supply pipes. Concealed pipes rust from the inside and seep into walls.
- Open grout joints. Cement grout cracks and lets water behind wall tiles.
- Shower mixer bodies. A badly sealed concealed body leaks inside the wall.
How we diagnose a leak
We use a moisture meter across the floor, walls and ceiling below, check the floor slope, and run isolated water tests on the drain, the shower area and the supply lines. Only once we know which one is leaking do we plan the fix.
Waterproofing without breaking tiles
Injection and grout-sealing treatments can stop leaks from joints and small cracks without demolition. They won't fix a failed membrane under the floor or a leaking pipe in the wall. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.
Waterproofing a bathroom properly
In a renovation, we apply a membrane across the whole floor and up the walls, with extra reinforcement at corners, drains and pipe entries. Then we fill the floor with water for 48 hours and check the room below before any tile goes down.
